Gerry Sevier was born in 1934 in Hamilton, Ontario. From 1952
to 1956 he attended the Ontario College of Art and was an honours
graduate with a medal.
Gerry was an illustrator for 45 years, winning many awards
from Art Directors shows in Toronto and New York.
Since 1976 Gerry has been an elected member of the RCA (Royal
Canadian Academy).
In 1963 he became a member of the OSA (Ontario Society of Artists).
Gerry served as president of the OSA 1970-73.
In 2001 he received a lifetime achievement award for illustration
from C.A.P.I.C. (Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators
in Communications).
From 1965 to 1995 he taught design and illustration at the
Ontario College of Art.
In addition, Gerry has had a career as a painter. Since 1961
he has had 26 one-man shows and has participated in many group
shows. In 2000 his work appeared in the OSA show, Flora 2000.
His work has also travelled to Japan and has appeared in the
RCA "Arts 2000" show in Stratford, Ontario.
Gerry's paintings are in more than 150 corporate collections.
He is a member of the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto.
